RAM Ups Its Game for 2014 Model Year

These days, the pickup truck market is incredibly competitive. The Big Three automakers are constantly trying to "one-up" each other to create the most stylish and innovative products, and none seems to be succeeding more than the RAM Trucks brand. After all, RAM is the only brand in which you'll find a coil-spring 2500 Heavy Duty pickup or a half-ton RAM 1500 featuring a diesel engine.

As far as the Heavy Duty models go, there's great news for power-hungry drivers. Both models are now available with the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine, which is the largest engine available in a pickup. It produces an incredible 410-hp and 429 lb.-ft. or torque, though an available turbodiesel further increases these numbers. The 6.7-liter diesel is offered in three variations, depending on your choice of transmission choice.

As for the RAM 1500, it will be available with a fuel-efficient diesel engine this year. The engine will add an additional $2,850 over the standard $24,200 RAM 1500, but it produces even more torque than the HEMI (420 lb.-ft.) The light-duty pickup also comes equipped with active aerodynamics, an eight-speed automatic transmission and a stop-start system.

There are several other new features available for the 2014 model year, so be sure to stay tuned here with our Akins Dodge Chrysler Jeep blog for more information about the new lineup of models as soon as it's available.
